Bike Damage

Bayonne, New Jersey where two parks were built by spohn ranch . Both use skatelite pro. The difference between the two parks is that one has a special gate to keep bikes out. The other is specifically for bikes. This is a good example of how much damage is done by bikes. In this photo, it appears that bikes pegs are impacting the face of the ramp, making dents and dimples in the surface. Not a problem if you're a bike, but if you have 60 mm wheels, this becomes a problem. The ramps are only a year and a half old.

Same type of ramp, only on the skateboard only ramps, and there are no dimples.

Here is a fun box, where bikes are putting gouges in the surface, and even chipping out parts of the surface.

Different angle of the gouges in the bike park.

This is the skate only fun box. As you can see, no real damage has been done to this. Some argue that bikes don't do any more damage to skateparks than skateboards. However, the evidence is clear. With these ramps in New Jersey it's clear to see that there is indeed. Thanks to Mark Wojton for taking these photos.

A nice shot of the Bike "proof" fence. Nothing will keep bikes out for certain, but this should slow them down.
