Mike dominated the skate scene at WAZZU from 1983-1988. Nobody could beat him down hills, or do larger powerslides. He was the Babe Ruth of skateboarding at WAZZU.

One day in Oct. 1985 a WSU photographer took a few photos. The photos you see here from WSU is what turned out.

Mike would start this run, right near the doors to the Thompson Hall, giant slalom down the sidewalk, then blast into a full front side power slide, as you see here.

As you can see, he's sliding sideways, quite a distance. In California, this was called the "Coleman slide" Developed by Cliff Coleman.

Mike got so he could spin around and go backwards, while still sliding. He says he learned this from T.J. Porter.

WSU build this angled wall over the physics classroom. What they didn't know at the time, was they made a nice ramp for skateboarding.

It made so much noise that Mike would get kicked off if there was a class going on inside....ha ha ha! Classic!

Mike says that this wall wasn't easy to ride. It had a sharp transition at the bottom, and you needed a lot of speed to overcome the friction created by the bricks.

Mike reports that to make this highspeed run, you have to thread the needle between the curb and the drain. And the gap doesn't open up until right before you get there.

Mike's high speed double grab down a 4 stair. This was located next to McCrosky Hall at WSU. He's riding his old Variflex El Gato board, with Tracker six tracks, and blue 65mm kryptonic wheels.
