Old Ramps I skated and built page 2

Another shot of my extended ramp.

Tim and I built this ramp late in the summer of '78 (I think), It was on this ramp that I learned to ride vert, and learned how to go straight up and straight down. Tim and I put Huber on it, which was our combined last names. Behrend and Hughes. It was kind of unusual to have a huge half pipe in one's back yard. My dad figured it was better than skating the streets. I assured him that it would raise his property value.

I widened my ramp a year or so later, to 16 feet. It was kind of funny, my parents would have guests over for dinner, and I would be asked to do a demo. I would pad up, and turn on the lights. They usually had never seen a ramp like this. So being completely caught off guard, and standing on the deck next to the top of the ramp, they would usually be startled by me coming up right next to them 12 feet off the ground.

The colors were brighter then, definitly a 70's thing.

A fakie Ollie. Thanks Allen (another one of those tricks that took me forever to figure out from looking at pictures in the magazine). I tell my son that I was doing ollies before he was even twinkle in my eyes. His response is, "How did you ollie that flat old board!"

Another frontside, I know. I like frontside, what can I say.
